Go Diego Go...in the Cold
We've had a lazy week, dealing with a couple of colds and enduring the freezing Florida weather. The chill is finally lifting, it actually got up to 63 or so today. Over the last couple of cold spells the majority of our landscape plants have had the outer layer of their leaves frostbitten to death. I think this might be the coldest winter we have had since we've moved here. We have done our part this week to keep Swiss Miss in business this week with all the Hot chocolate we've been buying. This week we got a Diego Video from the library and so of course Jack current favorite game is pretending to be Diego the animal rescuer. Last week he was pretending he was a lost boy. And so today the two merged into "Hey Mom, pretend I'm a lost boy who likes to rescue animals" In the lost boy theme he's lost because his mom and dad died at Halloween.
We also set up a pretend house this week in our front room, which has served many purposes this week. Yesterday it was a castle and the kids kept running back and forth saying pretending to slay and run away from the evil bad guy army. Max is the warrior who captured and killed the most evil bad guys. "King" Meredith just gave him a medal of honor in this picture

What creative kids!
I'm not sure I'm going to let you get away with complaints about the cold. I think my feet have been permanently cold since November, despite thick wool socks! ;) We're looking forward to a lovely 50 degree day tomorrow - warmest it will have been in quite a while!
I love the blanket - so simple but so lovely! I also love the tag and the font you chose on it. How did you make it?
Yeah, Yeah I know it's really not that cold here. For the tag I made and iron on transfer and ironed it onto some ribbon. Earlier attempts didn't turn out so well. Now I'm pleased with it...and excited to get sewing more.
that quilt is great!!! It looks like that curtain from while back. I love how that came out! i love the tag! it looks so professional.
last wed it was colder there than it was here! I could not believe it! We are so happy that today and this week will be in the upper 40's!!!! and almost 50's at the end.
did your plants freeze even with covering them? I hate when plants are ruined by the cold. I lost many jade plants there in winters that I didnt cover up
You have the most creative kids. Obviously you know why, though - look at their mother.
Kendra
I was gonna say, I think we had like two or three cold days this "winter." :) Then again I am 8 months pregnant and keep pretending that it is cold outside so I'll feel better. Only problem is that then I wear jeans and a sweater and I am sweating when it's 55 degrees! Yesterday was hot to me! I think we should do a day at someones house and make those onsies and the plush block that Jill did. I really want to do both of those! I love your tag, and the blanket looks really good too. I love to sew, I'm not great at it, but it relaxes me SO much!
Sarah- So good to see and hear from you both tonight! We miss you so much. It was fun on catching up with what you've all been up to...I love your onesies (wow) and M.P. backpack, and snakes, canopy bed.... no wonder your kids are so creative. I am getting back to blogging and reading after a month off. i hope to read much more about the Markos'. Really I just wish all the kids could get together and play. Hey, now that you have a new van, I think you should drive to SD for summer vacation!!!! Lots of love, D-
yes, there is something seriously wrong when it's warmer in CO than in S. FLA in the winter! we had some lovely days last week that we soaked up so we can face the rest of the long winter. you guys are so fun and creative. maybe if i could get my butt off the computer i could be too! ;)
Love the quilt, but really love the tag! Hope your business is going as well as you want it to.
