Goodbye lacrosse

This week has been a good one. Mer had her last lacrosse game. It was the district championship tournament. They lost their game but came in 3rd in the district. 

The boys made signs for her and she finished with a big smile on her face.

It has really been a great year for Mer. She has made great friends and says she likes lacrosse better than soccer. She comes home straight from school and fills up her free time playing the piano and the ukele.

Thomas is totally loved by his brothers.

He's getting a litte sturdier and easier to pick up and carry around. 

Mer rolled him over for tummy time and he lifted his head up higher than he ever has before. Everyone was cheering and praising him and then he started to cry

 I guess sometimes he gets a little too much love.

This Was Easter

Easter came at the end of an exhausting week. Doug had the flu and walked around like a zombie all week long and for some reason after all the Easter planning/shopping was done I didn't have the energy to do all that I had hoped to to celebrate. That's how I felt about it at the time. But looking at these pictures it seems like we celebrated it just enough.  Maybe I don't need to set my expectations so high.

We had Easter dinner early with friends on Saturday. They have a great yard where we had an easter egg hunt and played games like giant pick up sticks, huge tic tac toe, and drove around in cars and golf carts. Seriously so fun.

We squeezed in some egg decorating with our neighborhood friends. These guys live around the corner and the boys are in heaven having friends around so much. I didn't actually get a photo of the eggs. I basically fed Thomas the whole time (he eats a lot) and gave directions to the kids who set up the entire thing and decorated them all by themselves. It's kind of nice to have big kids who are capable of doing things by themselves.

Our flower bloomed just in time. It literally opened up a day before Easter.


The Easter bunny hid the baskets all over the house and the kids had to follow clues to find them.

This is what I want to remember... being here all together, everyone excited and happy. Enjoying it. I love this family of mine.

Thomas isn't big enough to eat real peeps so he got a toy one instead.

 The kids got new swimsuits and pool toys. They also got new sunday clothes but we didn't go to church that day so I don't have a picture with everyone looking dapper. Oh well, we enjoyed listening to General Conference that day at home instead. Feasting on inspiring words.

For dinner we had a simple ham, mashed potatoes, deviled eggs, and broccoli apple salad  Max requested chocolate cake so that's what we made for dessert. We had to make it a little more festive so we used one of the chocolate bunny packages and cut off the bottom and used it as a template for sprinkles. Luke helped me with this part. The sprinkles came out like an avalanche so we decided the bunny needed to be nice and thick with a chocolate chip for an eye.

It was delish with a little squirt of whipped cream on the top!

3 Month Thomas

I know this is a little late but here is a Thomas update.  He is super smiley, though it's hard to catch on camera.  He has recently found his hands and sucks on them not stop. Sometimes I catch him sucking on his thumb or fingers but mostly he just sucks on the side of his fist.  He coos and talks back to you when you talk to him. He figured out how to blow bubbles with his mouth.  He is getting a little more distractable and he only screams on car rides half of the time, which is such a relief with how much we are actually in the car. He is just so cute. See for yourself.

This was March

 Here are a whole bunch of happenings from March that I didn't get to share yet.  With some pictures of Thomas too.  He was around 2 months in this photo.

He is just so so cute right now.

The boys were pretending to camp in the pantry and thought Thomas should join them.

A little slice of messy life.

Doug's work held an open house to show off all the products hey make for the government and talk about the science behind it. It was fascinating. and the kids got to sit in a HumVee

It was totally awesome!

A sweet airplane Max built. I love seeing what Max makes up with is lego collection. He really builds some amazing designs. They always leave Jack saying "How does he do that!" Jack says he's better at building cars.

These 2 are the best of buddies.  They found a "crystal" rock at a track meet one day.

Speaking of Track meets. Max's track season is over now. He finished it off with a record breaking 5:37 mile. He now holds the 7th grade school record for the fastest mile. Who knew this guy was so fast. He takes after his dad. They stagger the start. He starts every race bent over. It makes me smile, He also ran every race with super worn out shoes. The traction on one was almost gone. Makes me wonder how fast he could run if he was wearing track shoes.

Here he is at 2 1/2 months. I tried and tried but I could never really get a good smile documented .

I think that little pointy lip is just so cute!

This was a view from my bed one morning after a pretty sleepless night. I was enjoying some early morning calm and wanted to capture it. I will be sad when he grows out of this swing. I know it will happen very soon, he's just getting so big. This has been a life saver!!  

Sweet Cheeks!

Luke's cast came off but you already know that... It's so crazy how this cast cutter doesn't cut your skin.

And look! I sewed up a baby quilt top for Thomas. This is as far as I got.  I was hoping to get it finished over spring break but somehow I got no sewing in that week... all in good time. Thank you Liz for the pattern!

And this was Thomas' first trip to the beach. Thankfully he is too little want to touch the sand. but he still came back needing a bath from the sand flying through the air.

 It's fun to watch him start to be more aware of his surroundings. You can tell his noticing and thinking about things.

I'm too busy and too behind to catchup on the blog today but I wanted to share these cute pics from mers lacrosse game last night. 

This guy is getting so fun and interactive. He's 3 months now and is eating his hands and like crazy. 

In other news Doug has the flu. He came down with it Saturday night. (The day after he came home from his week long conference in LA) He is WIPED OUT and has walked around like a zombie all week. I'm being supermom. Just got back from the seminary run. Off to pack lunches and drive the next lap of the shuttle. Vroom!!!
