Sunday Walk

Doug and I got invited to Birthday Party without the kids on Saturday night.  It was a long day and there are a lot of stories I could tell involving multiple soccer games, and a burst water main, and a visit from the police an hour before the party started but lets not go there.   I love this picture. Doug says he's not photogenic.  I disagree.

This little guy has been sick on and off all week.  He has a fever for a couple of days and then they go away and then come back.  He woke up on Sunday with a fever again and he spent most of the day in bed.  I found him on the chair like this today and had to wake him up to go to the doctor.  Evidently he has strep throat, even though his throat is not sore.  Poor guy, it has wiped him out.

The weather here has been gorgeous.  We took a walk Sunday afternoon.

They can't go anywhere without a soccer ball

Mer came home with some exciting news today.  She won a $1000 dollar savings bond from her eCyberMission project that was based on her Science fair project.  She was so excited.

Running home

Except for this guy

He got to ride on Dad's shoulders.

And so life goes.

Easter!

Easter Preparation:
Easter egg dyeing is serious business

Hands work best for retrieving dyed eggs.

Paints work on eggs too.

Easter Morning:
Baskets Found!

Egg hunt followed

The bunny hid them high and low

Doug prepared the feast.

And so was Easter.

Spring Break Week

Spring Break has come and gone.  I'm just getting over Bronchitis and  I can't quite wrap my head around summing things up.   We started off the week in a rental car which made it feel like vacation even more.  ( a huge RV backed into the side of my car leaving a nice dent in the front fender which had to be fixed.)

MONDAY we went Sledding Florida style!

TUESDAY we played with friends and Mer decided she wanted to paint her room.  She picked the color (sky blue), did all the prep work, and all the painting except along the ceiling. Wow is it nice to have her old enough to pull something like this off.

WEDNESDAY  was kid of a blur for me. I woke up with a fever. Doug came home at noon and took over.  He took the kids Sunday clothes shopping which we were in desperate need of (A crayon was left in a Sunday pants pocket and ruined everyone's Sunday clothes the week before)  That night he took everyone to Jack's friends baptism where they sang the musical number.

Let's just say that Jack was not happy about the outfit Doug chose.

THURSDAY I was feeling better so we decided to press on with Spring Break plans and head South to Ft. Lauderdale for the night.

We made a couple of stops along the way first to a Farmer's Market

where we ate pickles and pear cherry tomatoes

and pumped water to race the ducks.

Next we stopped at Morikami Japanese Gardens

It was beautiful there.  There was a little Japanese life museum where the kids could learn about what school is like there and try to use chopsticks the right way.

Us standing on Buddha...I'm pretty sure this is sacrilegious.

We were on a quest to find the perfect Ohm.  We ohmed our way through all the zen gardens.

When we had our fill of meditation we headed to down town Ft. Lauderdale and to our hotel.

We spent the evening exploring.  We found some old cars to look at.  The boys were in heaven.

and of course we had to test out the local gelato.

The next day we headed north to wander around West Palm Beach a bit before heading home.

We came home FRIDAY afternoon just in time to get our car back from the shop and  get me some antibiotics.

Easter Summary coming soon!
