Let the Halloween Celebration begin

The chill is in the air! While it doesn't look like Fall here it finally feels a little bit like it (Hi 69/Lo 47). Last night we officially started the Halloween extravaganza. Making sugar cookies and carving pumpkins all in one day. After School and after homework the kids rolled and cut and rolled and cut and finished baking all the cookies.I made a quick dinner of Tacos. Doug came home and ate with the kids while I went on a quick run. Then the pumpkin carving began. Everybody drew their faces and then frosted their cookies while they were waiting for us to cut them out. Doug even made everyone hot chocolate.
Mer made a "Dracula" one
Max's was a "scary" face
Jack kept changing his mind saying "mine is scary! Oh, now it's happy, now it's scary!"
Doug did the other one.
We finally got to light them after everyone was jammied. They all turned out quite nicely.
Now we're ready for a Happy Halloween night. (well, almost! I still have costume stuff to do...Max's literacy day parade is tomorrow and he's being a zulu warrior. I have to make a feathered head dress, not sure how that's going to turn out.)

The Bed

A couple of weeks ago, when our computer was down, we bought a new bed. (we actually purchased it before but it arrived the week the computer crashed.) Anyhow, we've been promising a picture of it. I have to say that it is nice to finally have a bed frame after 10 years of marriage. It makes things look a little more finished, wouldn't you say? I guess night stands are next. (we may get to them in another 10 years).

We also added a bunch of shelves to our closet that same week but I'm waiting 'til we get the baskets on order so I can take a picture of that finished project.

Here's a little movie of Luke. The lighting was poor, so it's low quality, but cute.

Oh also, Mer and I sang a duet in church today. We sang "A Child's prayer" from the primary songbook. It's one of those songs where she sang a verse by herself then I sang a verse and then we both sand them at the same time. She did a great job and held her own with seemingly no nervousness.

Our First Frog & Pirate Preview

Wondering whatever happened to those tadpoles? Well it has been a little over 2 months and we finally found our first frog this morning. He was perched on the inside of the fishbowl just ready to hop out. We quickly scooped him out and took him outside and Max held it for a minute before it hopped down into the grass
I 'm not sure how many more we have, probably about 15 or so, but I do know that we'll definitely be watching the bowl closely from here on out to make sure we have no escapees.

Jack finally decided what he wants be for Halloween. For a long time he wanted to be a goat, then he started, changing his mind every time you'd ask him. Now he's going to be a pirate for sure, Actually it's "Captain Hook" according to Jack. All I had to do was make the vest, buy the hook and eye patch and dig in the costume box for the rest. Phew, that was an easy one.

PS Luke is 8 months old now!!!

Jack Jumps and Doug Lands It

Since videos are so "easy" now here are a couple of more...

I remembered the camera at Jack's last day of swimming lessons and I captured his jump on video. I can't believe he just walks up and does it. He is usually very timid in the water but with his life jacket on he's nothing but confidence.

And now for Doug's blog skateboarding debut. He was waiting for the Bishop to take him to do a couple of visits and decided to Skate a little while he waited. This is just like Doug to squeeze in time for all the things he wants to do. I went out to capture some pictures of him Skateboarding in his church clothes. I videoed him trying to do a pop shove-it and at the end he actually landed it....

We're Back!!

Hey everyone we're back!! Actually we never left, but our computer did. It decided to conk out on us a couple of Sundays ago, and now we have a new one. We've been setting it up, ironing out the bugs and all and now I'm finally blogging again. I tried to upload a video with our new computer and here it is, I can't believe it worked after so many failed attempts with our last one. So easy this time! So Luke in the last couple of weeks has cut all four front teeth (2 top, 2 bottom). He started doing a cute little trick today that I caught on video a little. He says "a dah" on demand and thinks it's a big game when you start saying it to him. Check it out!

Jack has been taking swimming lessons for the past few weeks a couple of times a week. He actually jumped off the diving board yesterday and is going to do it again tomorrow. I'll get a picture and post soon ( knowing my record I probably shouldn't make any promises). That's all for know cause I gotta go to bed I have some cute pictures to post from when Doug's mom was in town during Jacks birthday. Later!!
