Birthday Boy

Yesterday Luke turned 2!! We had a busy, fun filled day. After a morning Baseball practice for Jack we went to tour Doug's work facility. It was the first time in 2o years that Harris let workers bring their family members in to see where they work. We got to see Doug's office and the different laser labs he works in. Everyone got to wear protective glasses while he turned on a laser and burned a piece of paper with it. He also showed us how to splice an optical fiber together. Max thought that was the coolest thing. After the tour we went to McDonald's for a Birthday lunch out.All day, Luke tried his hardest to show everyone how old he was with his fingers.
After lunch we stopped by Target to let him pick out his final birthday present which meant he had to try out a lot of toys. He always goes for anything with buttons, sounds and lights.

Of course the big kids wanted to try out all the toys as well.

We ended up getting him a pull along Helicopter that sings, and lights up, and carries balls inside. Just his style. We came home and put Luke down for a nap while we got ready for the rest of the celebration. I finished frosting the cake......and Doug and the kids filled the space under the fort with sand and decorated it with balloons.
When he woke up, we showed him his cake....

...and he found the Elmo riding on it.

He opened his presents...
...And then we took him to find his new sand box. He was more excited about the hanging balloons than the sand, I think. We came in, had a little dinner, and moved on to Cake and ice cream.
Here he is, ready for bed, in his new Elmo pj's looking at his new Elmo puppet book, thank you Grandma & Grandpa Markos! A great end to a great day.

Happy Birthday Luke! We love you.
