Feeling Lucky!

So today was a great day and I am feeling lucky.
Last night was Open House at school and with it a gift basket fundraiser. I bought six raffle tickets and let Max, Mer, and Jack each choose which baskets to enter for the drawing. We must be lucky because we actually won. Our basket was "Christmas in August" for a boy. I think that actually Jack and Max both put a ticket in for that one. We picked it up this morning and they were all in heaven opening everything up after school. Inside we found a fox and iguana Webkinz, 2 lego sets, a remote control kit, a nerf dart gun with extra bullets, Connect Four, and a super soaker water gun. Meredith was extremely bummed that we didn't win the Hannah Montana movie basket, but her one request was that she could put one of the lego sets together all by herself. I should have taken a picture of the "Christmas mess" we had going on over here after they had opened everything.
After we dropped the kids off at school this morning we headed up to my friend Kristin's house and she watched the little boys and I actually got to go shopping alone for the morning. I browsed Ross and a couple other stores and found a few things I just had to have. Okay, I seriously need to do that more often. When I got back, we all went for a swim in her pool. How lucky I am to have such a great friend. Thank you Kristin, next week it's your turn. My luck was holding out because as I pulled up both my little boys were sound asleep. I couldn't help but think "this is the greatest day ever". See how easy I am to please? Jack did only sleep for about 30 min, but hey a few moments of quiet is enough. I hope this good luck continues!

Here are a few show offs. Last weekend, I spent some of my hard earned purse money and bought curtains to replace our vertical blinds in the kitchen. This was a little bit of a tough purchase for me because I am always plagued with the thought that I could make them for sooo much cheaper. I put them up a couple of days ago I love them. How did I not do this sooner? because I always thought I could make them for sooo much cheaper. Good bye disgusting blinds, I will not miss you!

They look so pretty I'm thinking I need to work on the view (do something with my back porch) and redo the valences that are still there from the previous owner. I'm working on this little project at my friend Ronnie's request. It soon will have a matching little pair of jammie pants like these.

It's the end of August and it's HOT

Soccer season is upon us once again. Max and Mer had their first games today. We were out in the sweltering heat from 10-1, ugh! They kids played great and had a ton of fun despite the heat. Max is loving his team which has 3 of his really good friends (Sidney, Sam, and Kendall) on it. Doug is also an assistant coach on it. Meredith earned ice cream for the family by scoring 5 goals today. She was tearing it up out there. Max didn't score but it wasn't for a lack of trying. He had great assist and played really hard. It looks like it's going to be a great year. Those of us that didn't play today spent our time trying to stay out of the sun, staying hydrated, and taking silly pictures.Jack's friend Jake was sharing our shade.
Max wanted me to make sure I put this picture of his gear on the blog. As you wish Max!

Max is teaching Luke how do a handstand.
Later on, Doug needed a haircut so he let Jack help buzz his head. Then Doug in turn gave Jack a mohawk at Jack's request. He loved it for the few minutes he got to keep it. Now Doug and Jack have matching super short buzzes. I know, where's the picture.?

Mischief of the Day

So just because school is in session doesn't mean there is any less mischief going on around here. Tonight the kids were having a grand old time making boots out of Doug's socks... and dressing up in his clothes. Meredith was laughing her head off at Luke in the big shirt.
Here she is doing "gangsta" poses. She proceded to walk around the house singing Kanye West' "Heartless."
"How could you be so Dr. Evil...."

A New look and a New Do

I love my new Header. I got it from the Tip Top Shop. Check it out. It has such cute designs and such great prices. I think the monkeys are perfect. Life is pretty much a jungle over here with a ton of jumping, climbing, swinging, howling, and other mischief. Thank you Tip Top Shop!!
First day of school.
In other news, Meredith is finally feeling better. Her last day of fever was Friday, which made it 9 days of fever and the whole first week of school missed. She was bummed and has a ton of school work to catch up on. 4th grade, here she comes. Max had a great first week as a 2nd grader. He has a great teacher. Every day he came home with stories of cool experiments or fun food creations.I've been sewing again. In addition to making those bags for the 2 farmers market days, I made some sunday pants for Luke. This weekend's project was making some pajama pants for Luke. Jack wanted some too and we got some army fabric for him. I realized that I didn't buy enough. When I told him we didn't have enough to make pants for him he said, "that's okay Mom, I wanted jammie shorts." Brilliant idea Jack, why didn't I think of that. So he got his shorts yesterday. These are so easy, I can't believe I haven't made them more often. I need to add a picture!!
Bye Bye Curls: Luke got a trim yesterday and he now has no more curls. In a way it is too bad, they were beautiful some of the time, but most of the time they wer a matted mess the back. Sorry uncle Mike, Doug wanted to let you see them in person, but I just couldn't let them go that long. BTW: Luke gets to go to Nursery at church next week. I can't believe he's already 18 months old (or will be on the 20th) My baby is big!

...and we're ready for SCHOOL!!

The pencils are sharpened...
everybody has new shoes...
our teeth are sparkling...
been to the beach twice this week...
and finally to Ben and Jerry's for one last celebration...

And some silly faces...

... and we're ready for school!! Yep the kids go back to school tomorrow. At least Max will go tomorrow. Meredith has had a fever on and off for the last 3 days and today seems to be getting a lot worse. She'll spend her first day of school at the doctors office unless she wakes up with a miraculous recovery. I'm not sure how that's going to go over. I am sad summer is over. I love the life of no set schedule to drive kids places. I asked Jack if he was sad that Mer and Max were going back to school. He told me that he was, but Jack and Luke have become very good at playing with one another lately and with some swimming lessons, playgroups, and storytimes on the schedule he definitely won't be bored.
