Suess Celebration/Pinewood derby

Jack's fever finally stopped Thursday evening.  It turned out that he had an ear infection along with a nasty cold.  He missed a full 5 days of school.  We stayed busy at home and he wasn't too disappointed to have missed school, though by Thursday he was saying he really wanted to go.

Friday we celebrated Dr. Suess' Birthday.   Luke and Jack helped me decorate and we did fun crafts, and read LOTS of Dr. Suess books
.
Marshmallow/gummy lifesaver "Hats".  We also made them with strawberries and bananas.

Jack made a Lorax and we filled our walls with Turffela trees

And Hats of course.

We had an early dinner of Green Eggs and Ham

And for dessert the kids each made a Truffela tree cupcake to eat.

Then we drove off to Max's Pinewood Derby.

His car was a "Viper"
He won 1 out of the 4 races he competed in, but the night was very exiting.

Jack made a little mini car too.

Yesterday was the first day of Soccer games. Meredith is on TWO teams, which means she played 2 games.    Both games were played against very well matched teams.  I think they ended in ties. Mer was thrown to the ground a few times and made some good plays.  She reported that her legs were sore this morning. I bet!  Doug is coaching Max's team. They had an exciting game as well. They tied it up at the end with a goal assisted by Max in the last minute of the game.  Jack sat out his first game, but he'll join the fun next week.

Quick Doug update:  He has decided to conquer his fear of public showers and pursue his body building dream.  He's has been waking up at 5:20 to go to the gym 3 times a week and then going again on Saturdays.  Anyone need a little inspiration?  It's exhausting just watching him :)  But he IS getting pretty ripped!

On to another week (deep breath)

A few more birthday pictures

I had just a few more pictures that I wanted to share from Luke's big day.  He is just too cute...

Silly...

and Happy.  And he is just too big.
We came home and let him open the rest of his gifts.  Doug didn't get to see so we took a video of it.  I wish  it wouldn't take 20 hours to upload it so that you could all see because it was Hilarious!

Sweet new threads.

That evening he wanted to send his balloons up into the air.  So at the park, during Max's BBall practice, we did just that.

I also got some fun shots of him trying out his new bubble gun.

Fun times, It is fun to watch this kid grow up though I wish he would slow down just a bit.  I just sent in an application for preschool for him next year.. I had mixed feelings about that.

This weekend Meredith got to participate in a All County Chorus Performance.  She was on of 7 students that were chosen to participate from her school.  She rehearsed for almost 2 full days for it and then performed at the King Center (our local performing arts center) Saturday night.

Also this weekend we finally put the tower away.  It stood undisturbed for one week after Jack challenged Doug to build a tower bigger than the one Grandpa Val made last time he was here.

Speaking of Jack, he has had a fever for the last 3 days.  We are getting a little stir crazy over here, and he is begging to go back to school.  Which is refreshing since he typically never wants to go to school.

Until next time...over and out!

Luke is 4!!!

Today is Luke's birthday. Doug asked him how old he is today and he said that he was 3 and that he wouldn't be 4 until his birthday party started.   We just got home from his birthday party so I guess it's official, He's 4!

The kids had no school today so we had a party at the park.  Luke's little sports coach came and led them in some fun games and relay races.

Tug of War

They had a race to make a mummy.

Then the mummies came alive and chased them.

Luke wanted a full body Hulk cake, NOT just a face.  I love making my kids cake dreams come true.

Now we are home enjoying a little down time.   We'll have the rest of the party when Doug gets home tonight.  Happy Birthday Luke!! Can't believe you are 4!!

Ho Hum

Every Wednesday, we go to the park to meet friends and play.  One day I actually brought my camera.

One day Luke had a little fun with olives.

Max is enjoying his basketball season.

Cousin Eli sent us a Flat Stanley to take care of for the week last week.  He joined playing Pictionary one night for FHE.

We also took him with us to the Zoo, the beach and to all our usual activities.

Jack is doing really great in School.  He received an award for outstanding achievement in Math last week.  He also finished his Firts Magic Tree House book and is on Number 2.  I don't think he could be more excited about that.

Luke is loving his sports class.  Its time for Basketball now.

And those are some of the things we did over the last couple of weeks.
