Easter

We arrived home from Asheville late on a Saturday night and the next morning was EASTER!! We had a nice, albeit a little scattered, Easter. The kids woke up and searched for their baskets. Mer was the last to find hers Ha!

Thomas steals the show in most of these pictures. He's just too cute.

In the afternoon we went over to a friends house who has a great backyard for Easter egg hunting.

We came home with way more eggs than we needed.

The eggs lingered for a week or so and we made sure to get a lot of play time with them.

That following week we took Luke into the Allergist.  In asheville his allergies got so bad that he needed an inhaler everyday so we thought wed better see if we were doing all that we can for him.
Apparently he's allergic to all the trees. Poor guy. His allergies have all but subsided now that spring is dying down thankfully.

Oh and it is also worth noting that during the months of March and April the kids became completely obsessed with the songs from Les Miserables. It has been pretty fun hearing them belt them out and Max and Mer memorizing and performing the Confrontation with each other in the kitchen,

Spring Break Adventure

We decided we needed a real vacation for spring break this year. Doug researched options and decided we'd to explore Asheville NC area. We left our house around 5 on Sunday and drove to GA. We spent Monday playing and relaxing with the Markos gang. Some how I have no pictures of the day except when Tommy got to push the cart at Trader Joes.

Anyway, we woke up Tuesday morning and drove to the Pisgah National Forest to have some fun in the mountains. The First stop was the Fish Hatchery. Look at all those Rainbow Trout.

The next stop was Looking Glass Waterfall.

Can you spy Max and Mer chillin on the rocks below?

After that we decided to hike up to the top of  Looking Glass Rock. It was over 3 miles straight up. We made it in record time 1 hr 20 min of almost non stop speed walking so we could keep up with Doug. It was a good thing he had a baby on his back or there's no way we would have ever kept up. There are supposedly Hundreds of waterfalls around asheville. This one was pretty and we were ready to get out of the car.

 Our view from the top.
It was beautiful and very worth all the effort.

By the time we were done we were so worn out. We were hiking for 3.5 hours. We headed to our "cabin" for the night to get some rest. The next day we explored our place. The place we rented was on a small farm that is working at becoming a self sustaining farm or something like that. It was an adventure just exploring there. It had a couple of "tree houses" we could climb on.

We brought a few bikes along to help us explore

There was  a little creek that ran through the property as well.

With fun rocks to climb on...

Of course we had to check out their chickens and goats and see their hydroponic green house.

On our trip we drove into Asheville a few times as well. This stop was especially cool, we toured the MOOG factory. You might remember that Doug has a Sub Phatty. I wish I got a few more pictures here.

Eating at Fuddruckers afterward...

We had campfires with s'mores at night.

On another Asheville visit we tried our hand at fishing in a couple of the rivers.

And then we were off to hike to yet another waterfall.

This one was maybe the coolest. You could walk behind it and climb up around it.

A favorite stop was the Chocolate Lounge. We love everything chocolate and this place had just the right kind of chocolate.

We ordered Chocolate Sip, a chocolate snickerdoodle,  a macaroon brownie, and triple layer chocolate mousse with almond cream.

This was just one wall of the little "chocolate library". I can't believe Doug walked away with out purchasing a couple new bars to try for the road.

Oh, the other place we ate at  for breakfast one day was called Over Easy Cafe. This place was so delish.  I would eat here every day if I could.

This is sliding rock. We drove to it just to see it because we figured it was just too cold to go in. But when we got there a couple of people were sliding down it so the kids all took an icy dip in what ever clothes they were wearing for the day.

Mostly on this trip we just got to relax a lot.

Here we are eating Chickfila on our way out of town. Thomas is hoping no one will catch him climbing up on the table. He's getting to be quite the little monkey.

And just like that our vacation was over. This was the first time we took a real vacation on spring break. We should do that more often. It's fun.
