Summer play

Meredith had her Dance party friday night and it was "epic" (the term of the week).  But first I have some other happenings to record.  We have been blazing through summer.  I feel like it is already flying by too fast.  We have had two very busy weeks with not a lot of pictures to show for it.  Max had cub scout day camp everyday this week from 8:30 to 4.  We had one of his friends stay with us all week so he could go to camp with us every day. They came home filthy and dripping everyday.  Wish I got a picture.

Every summer the kids beg to do swim team but it never works out.  This year they got what they wanted.  Wednesday was their first swim meet.  Just Max and Jack participated (mer says she'll try next week).  They each raced in the Freestyle, Back Stroke, and Breast Stroke and did great.

While Mer was spending a few hours at a horse camp and Max was at scout camp, I took the little boys to the zoo with their friend Ryan.

Jack and I got to go Kayaking there.

In other news, the kids have spent A LOT of their free time making music videos with er's new camera.  We discovered that Luke has some pretty sweet dance moves.  Check him out dancing to the favorite song of the week, Michael Jackson's  "Smooth Criminal". (fyi: it is a little long and takes a minute to get started.)

Check back soon for Mer's party recap!

12 Years Old

My little girl turned 12 on Monday (last monday..I started this post a week ago).  We have had a very busy first week of summer so I'm finally getting the Birthday fun officially recorded.

Unfortunately all the cameras were out of batteries so we have very few pictures from the day, but here she is in all her present glory.

Among other presents, she got "sliders" ...

...and a camera.

After presents and crepes for breakfast, we headed out the door to the beach for a couple of hours, and then to a movie (Pirates).   That evening we met up with our soccer friends, the Knoblocks.  Their family is as addicted to soccer as we are.  We played a family vs. family Soccer game. We brought along Mer's birthday dessert.  Brownies with pecans and caramel on top, served with Mint chocolate chip ice cream.

It was windy, and after we lit all the candles, Mer stood up to blow them out and the wind did it for her.

Oh well, we sang Happy Birthday at least.   She'll get another chance at her "So You Think You can Dance/American Idol" birthday party next week.

Can you believe she's 12 years old??  Remember when she looked like this??
