The Flarp Story

While Doug has been known for sometimes embarrassing the kids, he also has moments when he is known as the coolest dad in the world. Like last weekend when he drove to 3 different Walmarts in 2 days on a quest to find FLARP. What is Flarp?? It is basically a bottle of goo that when pulled in and out of it's container makes the most perfect bathroom noises that send everyone, including Luke, into laughing fits of delight. Of course dad is king when he is encouraging any kind of bathroom humor. The kids (and Dad) played with it all weekend long. Max even got in trouble sneaking it into church. Luckily we intercepted it before he opened it up during Sacrament meeting. In Primary Jack raised his hand in the middle of singing time to tell everyone that his Dad "bought him Flarp yesterday." It might not have been too big of an interruption but the teacher couldn't quite understand him and it had to be repeated over and over and finally explained by me. Nice! Luke couldn't get enough of it and would scream his head off when we tried to take it away from him. Actually his favorite thing to do with it was put it on his head and then try to pull it out of his hair. Yeah, that was fun. So that's the promised Flarp story. By now it has lost it's luster as all $1 items do and this weekend we moved on to another favorite celebration here...VALENTINE'S DAY!

I remember when my dad made a fake blob of dog poop out of Styrofoam and paint, and planted it in my grandparents' living room so they thought the dog had made a huge nasty mess. We thought that was hilarious!
